Bathtime

In other recent developments, Robbie is finally over his water phobia. Up until this point, bath time was torture, involving him clutching and crying unless you got in with him. In the space of a week, he went from thinking bathtime was evil, to thinking it was the best thing ever. It's so fun to see him splashing and playing!

Drinking

The last few months, we've been really focusing on trying to motivate Robbie to drink. We did a week long wean where we didn't tube him at all, trying to drive thirst to get him to drink. He wasn't able to drink enough to keep himself hydrated, but it definitely has sparked an interest. Previous to this, we were lucky to get him to drink an ounce or two a week, sometimes even a month. These days he drinks several ounces every day. He still prefers water to anything, which is a challenge because he really needs the calories of milk or juice, but it's so good to see him want to drink. We just continue to follow his lead and hope that someday soon we won't need his tube at all.

This is an infa-trainer cup he's drinking out of. It was definitely our gateway cup. It's definitely recommended for anyone trying to teach a child to drink from a cup.

Robbie and his buddy

Our Devil Cat is thus named because he is by far the most feisty of our bunch. Fortunately he's very tolerant of Robbie's affections.

NICU reunion

September 26 was our first NICU reunion. It was held in a conference room at the hospital. The place was a mad house, but it was so great to see everyone. We saw almost all the families we were friendly with while Robbie was still admitted and several nurses.
It was great to catch up with everyone.

Vanessa is amazed how big I've gotten!

Happy to see the Johnson family again

You'd never know the Js started out around 2 pounds each.
Elizabeth used to get called Robbie's twin from another mother. They both started at 1 pound 7 ounces.
In the background Lexi couldn't stay awake long enough to see everyone. She'd had a busy week. Her mom was still in the hospital from having her new baby brother.

Don't be fooled. Robbie was happy to see Steph again. he just objected to be held still for a photo. Stephanie attended Robbie's birth.

My old pal Gavin- a fellow 26 weeker.

Don't worry, Robbie. This time was just a visit.

For Robbie's 2nd adjusted birthday, and the anniversary of his discharge from the NICU, we stopped by and took some cupcakes to the NICU staff. We got a small peak at the renovations and to visit with some old friends. Yolanda was one of Robbie's very first nurses.

After we left the NICU, we headed south for a visit to grandma's. I rode with him in the backseat to keep him entertained. He's a good passenger.
